Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared.
Justin Butterfield took minutes.

Review of Minutes:
- Michael called for review of the minutes from the August 19, 2020 meeting.
Michael displayed the minutes. Arpad moved to approve the minutes with this
change. Randy seconded. The minutes were approved without objection.

Review of ARs:
- Randy and Bob to add comments to the bus_label example.
  - Randy noted he and Bob met to discuss this, but they are still working on it.

Opens:
- None.

EMD Draft22 Review:
Michael asked which draft version we are on. Randy noted he sent out a
draft22. Michael will check if the most recent drafts have been posted to the
website [AR].

Randy displayed draft22 and changed it to draft23 to capture any changes.
Michael noted on page 36 there is a comment regarding the cascading we need to
discuss. Randy commented this section mentions the no duplicate pin_names.

Arpad asked about the Rambus clock issue that was brought up in the ATM meeting
and the proposed rule to allow multiple pins for one buffer. Randy asked if we
are trying to separate the issue. Michael asked if we should make the rules
between IBIS and EMD consistent. Arpad stated Walter's proposal does not
completely remove the one-to-one rule, only half of it. Walter noted the
proposal is to allow multiple pins to reference one signal_name, and there
should be no changes to EMD based on this proposal. If two pin_names have the
same signal_name, then any interconnect model should include both of those pin
names. Walter added this to his BIRD, but we may want some statement in EMD.
Michael asked if we need to fix this in EMD first or fix everything all at
once. Walter stated we should fix it all at once. This has no effect on EMD,
as it is at the Component level. Randy agreed we do not get to the buffer
level in EMD. Arpad suggested to keep this issue separate.

Bob asked if we would hold up IBIS 7.1 until this is resolved. Randy commented
it is a separate BIRD. Michael stated, when EMD gets integrated into IBIS, we
may need to resolve this. Bob asked if we are holding up EMD and IBIS 7.1 due
to this issue. Michael suggested to not hold up either. We will have to
resolve this question later, but we can highlight it to review.

Arpad moved to table discussion on Walter's new BIRD in this meeting. Walter
seconded. There were no objections.

Michael asked about any comments on Aggressor_Only. Walter will make a
recommendation on Aggressor_Only rules [AR]. Michael noted there may not be
any changes needed. Randy commented we have added some text on this already.

Michael asked if there are other comments. Bob replied we are working on the
example with Aggressor_Only. Randy stated we can review this later.

Randy noted there is a comment on page 13 to review regarding Aggressor_Only.
Michael asked if this will be part of Walter's review. Randy said this comment
is related to the word "connected". We had reviewed this last time and left a
comment to double check this. Walter stated he has no issues with this
paragraph. Randy asked if we can delete the comment. Walter agreed. Arpad
stated we can remove it for now.

Randy noted there are comments in section 13.7. Michael asked if the review of
this example will fix these. Randy replied yes.

Randy noted the comment on page 36 is related to duplicate pin_names in rule
1.a.iv. Michael was concerned there is a relation to Walter's proposal. Bob
commented this is related to the EMD Groups, where you cannot bring in two
models with duplicate pins at the same interface. Bob noted we have a similar
rule for Interconnect. If you select a pin_name, the EDA tool can select a
model for the pin_name without Aggressor_Only, but it has to be a unique
pin_name. Michael asked if this comment can be marked as resolved. Randy
agreed.

Bob commented, in the case of rules 1.a.ii and 1.a.iii, the signal_names can be
distinct. Michael asked if this also relates to Walter's BIRD. Bob replied we
do not want to check the signal_name. Randy thought we might want to remove
signal_name from these rules. Randy suggested we can highlight these rules and
review this with Walter. Bob suggested we could clarify the signal_name is the
same as the connection mechanism. Randy noted this is stated in the
introduction on page 10. Bob asked if this is for rails or I/Os. Randy noted
it is stated for both cases. Bob noted we need to align this with the rules
1.a.ii and 1.a.iii.

Michael shared the latest bin list. He noted the last few items are final
editorial tasks.

Michael noted item #1 is to clarify the use of "connected". Bob commented
rails and I/Os have different definitions for connected. Bob will propose
clarifying statements for "connected" [AR].

Michael asked about item #2, regarding the structural diagram of an EMD. Randy
replied this is done.

Michael asked about item #3. Randy thought this was done, but he was not sure.

Michael noted he will review item #4.

Michael asked about the item #5. Randy suggested this was done, but it could
use another look.

Michael asked about the item #6. Bob replied this is done in the section 13.6
connection rules.

Michael noted item #7 is done.

Michael noted item #8 was for Walter. Bob commented we allow an "NA"
components in the designator. Randy commented this item was done, and we do
not require an IBIS Component.

Michael asked about item #9. Randy stated this cross check produced the new
keywords. He noted this item is done.

Michael asked about item #10. Randy commented we have EMD Designator and Parts
List to address this. This can be marked as done.

Michael asked about item #13. Bob replied this is done. Randy commented this
is on page 27 of the current draft.

Michael noted items #15 and #16 are still open.

Michael asked about item #17. Randy noted this is done. There are a couple
instances of "tells the parser" in IBIS, but he thought we have added this to
the known issues list.

Michael asked about item #18. He thought there is no such language, and this
item is still open. Randy replied we allow for NAs and you do not have to list
the parts. Arpad stated this is why we added the new keywords. Michael noted
this is a one line rule. Randy commented we have a rule on this on page 11.

Michael noted item #19 is still open and needs review.

Michael asked about item #20. Bob replied this is stated in the syntax rules
for the keywords.

Michael asked about items #21 and #22. Randy replied these are done.

Michael noted items #23 and #24 are not done.

Michael noted item #25 item is not done. Bob stated we have two types of
connections and we should note this.

Michael asked about item #26. Randy replied we finished this in draft23.

Michael commented items #27 and #28 are final editorial tasks.

Michael will send out the latest copy of the EMD bin list spreadsheet [AR].

Randy will send out EMD draft 23 [AR].

Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be September 2.

Arpad moved to adjourn. Randy seconded. The meeting adjourned without
objection.
