No patents were declared. Michael noted that the minutes to the April 22 meeting were sent out late, so these will be reviewed in the next meeting. Arpad Muranyi noted a typographical error in the April 22 minutes: "woudl" appears at least once. Michael mentioned having an AR from April 22 to generate IBIS Interconnect and EMD examples with Port Mapping equivalents. He noted that this was done in the presentation he would share later in the meeting. Arpad reviewed a list of issues he found in his review of the first 9 pages of draft 29 of the Port Mapping proposal. Most were grammatical or otherwise typographical. He suggested "port terminal" as an alternative to "terminal" in several cases referring to real (not simulation) locations; he added that the phrase a "port consists of two terminals" is explicitly stated. Arpad also noted concern about the Bus_label:designator:name syntax, which seems inconsistent in terms of behavior with similar constructions. Michael asked whether we are trying to declare shorting on the TS side. He suggested leaving aside any Group vs. Bus_label controversy. Randy Wolff suggested that the syntax distinguishes between Bus_label on the component side (Designator Pin List) vs. the system side (EMD Pin List). Arpad replied that Bus_label is an identifier about association between the designator pin and the EMD pin (therefore, shorting is supproted only within the designator). Michael asked whether the syntax has meaning only at one hierarchical level (within one component through refdes vs. the entire EMD through-pin list). Arpad replied that these considerations imply that Bus_label:name and Group:name should instead be removed. Randy replied that the meaning of the names depends on whether they are on the pin list side or not. Michael reviewed his presentation showing examples of EMD and IBIS Interconnect implementations matching Port Mapping text. Some changes were made "live" during the meeting. He raised concerns about adding potentially "niche" or obscure IBIS material to the Touchstone documentation. Randy suggested linking examples between IBIS 8.0 and Port Mapping documents; one can simply put references to specific IBIS examples in the Touchstone Port Mapping text, rather than the entire example text. Michael endorsed this idea, taking the AR to update his examples to match existing IBIS 8.0 content. [AR] Michael also noted potential confusion between Terminal and Port numbers; Arpad noted that he still dislikes this approach, because of the lack of clarify around ports as pairs of terminals. Michael asked whether a short should be assumed on the pad side for the VDDQ rail and VSS rail connections using these names. In addition, pin_names should be something like A25, etc. to match Physical pin names in IBIS. Arpad noted that reference cannot be defined with respect to itself; A_gnd should be used for references in any cases where "-" declarations are not present. He asked whether Physical declarations need to match exactly against IBIS structures. Is "VSS" a pin location, due to Physical declaration? Shouldn't we have qualifiers for Physical ports? Michael took the AR to check Physical rules regarding IBIS text. [AR] Arpad suggested that there was no need to send out the slides until the examples were complete. Arpad moved to adjourn; Randy seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection.
