INTRODUCTIONS AND MEETING QUORUM
Two new representatives from Ansoft introduced themselves. Michael
Brenneman is an applications manager for Ansoft, while Mary Tolikas is
associated with their business operations. Mary works in their Burlington,
MA office, and Michael is located in San Jose, CA.

CALL FOR PATENTS
Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the
IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, or ICM 1.0 specifications. No patents were
declared.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT
Michael Mirmak reported that we are closing out the year with 23 members.
Ansoft joined in the last couple of weeks and will be a member next year as
well. A proposed budget for 2005 has been submitted to GEIA. There are
already 18-19 members committed for 2005, so we are on track for a
significant increase in membership for next year. Membership invoices will
go out the first two weeks in January.

REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS
Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the October 29, 2004 IBIS Open Forum
teleconference. The minutes of the meeting were approved without change.

MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS
None.

PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES
Syed Huq reported that he has updated the poster page. He will add Ansoft
and Freescale now that they are confirmed members. Other updates are being
made to the roster listings as well.

NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE
Michael Mirmak reported for Lance Wang that a Micrel Semiconductor models
link was added to the Models page.

OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES
No update.

MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION
Bob Ross reported that nothing new has happened. He also mentioned that
about 400 people in total worldwide are on the list.

INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS
Michael Mirmak reported he attended the IEEE Design Automation Standards
Committee (DASC) meeting held at Mentor Graphics in San Jose on
Friday, November 12. DASC helps to foster design standards such as
VHDL, VHDL-AMS, Advanced Library Format (ALF), etc. Michael gave a
presentation about keeping IBIS and ICM tied in with DASC for purposes of
our integration of AMS into IBIS. DASC members were interested in IBIS
overall, but the consensus was that IBIS should approach individual working
groups of interest under the DASC umbrella, specifically the VHDL-AMS group.
Michael is making contact with the appropriate groups. Michael was
approached by the chair of the ALF group. There is interest in IBIS being
incorporated as part of the ALF specification.

SUMMITS
- DesignCon IBIS Summit, January 31, 2005, Santa Clara, CA

DesignCon 2005 will take place January 31 - February 3, with a Summit
scheduled for Monday, January 31. Michael Fister, the CEO of Cadence,
will be the keynote speaker during the free lunch. The first call for
papers will be sent out shortly. Bob Ross mentioned that we need to
arrange for refreshments during the meeting. Michael Mirmak will try to
get the IEC to provide them.

- DATE European IBIS Summit, March 11, 2005, Munich, Germany

DATE 2005 will take place in Munich, with a Summit planned for Friday,
March 11. Ralf Bruening of Zuken is making arrangements for the room
and other logistics. Bob Ross reported that Ralf is waiting for
  confirmation of the room request.

- JEITA Asian IBIS Summit, Feb-March 2005, Tokyo, Japan

JEITA members are still in the planning stages. Michael Mirmak reported
that messages from JEITA representatives have been received recently. It
is looking like a March summit is very probable. JEITA is interested in
technical information regarding IBIS4.1 and ICM. There should be 30
participants including three from the US. Suggestions have pointed
towards Thursday, March 17 or 24 for the summit.

Sponsorship opportunities for all these Summits are still available, with
sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other
announcements.

IBIS ANSI BALLOT STATUS
Randy Wolff reported that ballots for IBIS 3.2 reapproval were sent out on
Thursday morning. Members have until December 23 to return their ballots
via email. It was noted that Otto Bennig of Samtec did not receive an
email. Frank Gasparik also reported having problems with his email bouncing
back. Bob Ross questioned who the ballots were being sent to. Randy took
the AR to check into the balloting issues.

S2IBIS3 STATUS
No updates. Bob Ross mentioned that Ambrish Varma's website received over
1000 hits recently related to S2IBIS3.

S2IBIS3 beta executables can be downloaded from:

  http://www.ece.ncsu.edu/erl/ibis/s2ibis3/s2ibis3.htm

Feedback on the current version is appreciated and encouraged.

IBIS VERSION 4.1 PARSER STATUS
Bob Ross reported that the parser has passed the beta version, but there are
three or so technical issues open to be resolved. Once these issues are
closed, the parser will be released as version 4.1.0. The expected release
is January/February 2005.

ICM SPECIFICATION AND PARSER STATUS
Michael Mirmak gave an update for Lynne Green. The IIRDs discussed today
will have an effect on the parser, so changes will need to be made to the
parser eventually.

IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE
Bob Haller reported that the committee is meeting the first Tuesday of each
month with the next meeting December 7. Future plans the committee is
discussing include automation of the checklist, BIRDS for checks that should
be in the parser but are not, and pushing to get people to use the standard
checklist and provide feedback. Bob plans to put together a kit with
the checklist and an example model and send out a link to the users group.
Putting a link on the main eigroup IBIS website was also discussed.

IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE
No update.

FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES
Michael Mirmak reported that both committees met November 18 for one hour
each. The Cookbook committee went over the latest changes to the draft
cookbook. There was much discussion on the differential section including
the need for more information on validation and data extraction. There was
a proposal to put packaging and ICM information in a separate cookbook. The
Futures committee discussed links between IBIS and ICM including how pads
and pins are hooked together.

Recent committee material is stored at:

NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES
None.

BIRD91.2: MULTI-LINGUAL LOGIC STATES CLARIFICATION
Ian Dodd summarized that the BIRD is needed to ensure tools and models are
in agreement. Bob Ross expressed his concerns of embedding specific version
numbers of software in the specification. Ian responded that the software
mentioned will be backwards compatible, so it should not be a problem. Bob
also noted the need for a minor editorial change of some parentheses. A
vote was called for with the noted minor editorial changes for inclusion in
IBIS 4.2. The BIRD was approved unanimously by the members present.

BIRD92: MULTIPLE TERMINATOR AND SERIES ELEMENTS UNDER [MODEL]
Michael Mirmak introduced the BIRD. It addresses the fact that terminator
keywords are single ended. The specification does not specifically prevent
one from putting [Rac] and [Cac] more than once under the same [Model]
keyword. The parser issues an error when more than one instance of these
keywords is under [Model]. The same is true of the [* Series] keywords
under the [On] or [Off] keyword. Both of these things should be errors, so
the specification needs to be clear. Nothing will need to changed in the
parser. Bob Ross mentioned making an editorial change to the BIRD
description. Michael will issue a revised version shortly.

BIRD93: MODEL AND SIGNAL NAME LIMIT EXTENSION
Michael Mirmak reported that this BIRD was filed at the request of a couple
of organizations whose internal processes for generating models created
longer internal model names than allowed by the specification
(20 characters). This BIRD changes that limit to 40 characters for the
[Model] keyword. This is possible due to BIRD78.1 allowing the 120
character maximum line length. The model name is extended in
[Series Pin Mapping] and in [Model Selector] as well. Bob Ross noted that
the BIRD needs a justification statement stating why 40 characters has been
chosen as the limit.

IIRD2.3: FREQUENCY DEPENDENT RLGC MATRICES
Michael Mirmak summarized the IIRD. It adds a [Frequency] keyword to allow
matrices to show frequency dependencies. The IIRD updates the description
of [Resistance Matrix] to no longer refer to DC resistance. It also states
that if data is not included for specific frequencies, it is assumed to be
zero. The IIRD now includes changes made from IIRD7.1 for consistency.
Michael has a cleaned up version to make it easier to read through that he
can make available on request. The IIRD will be put up for a vote at the
next meeting.

IIRD8: DISTINCT MODEL_PINMAP AND MODEL_NODEMAP NAMES
Bob summarized IIRD8 and also introduced IIRD8.1, althought IIRD8.1 had not
been officially released. ICM currently contains the Model_nodemap and
Model_pinmap subparameters, which point to the ICM keywords defining the
pinlists of the interconnect and how they map to the nodal or tree path
conductors. Right now, there's no rule which says you have to have
different pinmaps or nodemaps for each endpoint. IIRD8 will force each set
of endpoints to have a unique pinmap or nodemap. This way, the tool always
knows which end of the interconnect is being stimulated, connected, etc.
IIRD8.1 permits you to use a single pin/nodemap name if you wish, but
creates a new subparameter called "Side" which will help the tool identify
which end of the interconnect is being used. This is similar to the
subcircuit (SUBCKT) definition used in SPICE. The IIRD will be put up for a
vote at the next meeting.

IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS
Michael Mirmak reported that no new BUGS have been filed. Recent BUGS have
been processed, but it needs to be determined how to deal with fixing them.

NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES
Michael Mirmak mentioned that in transitioning from IBIS 4.1 to IBIS 4.2, we
must make sure that the intent of IBIS 4.1 is realizable. There needs to
be a clean way for those building models to understand how a particular pin
ties to a particular pad. IIRD8 will help provide a methodology for this
with ICM.

NEXT MEETING
An Open Forum teleconference has been scheduled for December 10, 2004
from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. Votes are scheduled for BIRD92,
BIRD93, IIRD2.3, and IIRD8.1.
