No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the April 19 meeting. Bob Ross moved to approve the minutes. Randy Wolff seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael to submit BIRD189.2 to the IBIS Open Forum. - Michael reported this is done. Opens: - None Filename vs. file name vs. base name in BIRD189.3: Michael reported that an issue was raised in the IBIS Open Forum in regards to how file names are called in relation to BIRD186. He mentioned that the BIRD186 adds capability to IBIS for file name paths, and the issue was raised how BIRD189 will handle file names. On page 17 of BIRD189.2, the term <filename> is not consistent with most of IBIS, while it is similar to the EBD and .pkg syntax. This issue is brought up in BIRD186, and there is a proposal to define a <base name>, which is the file name without the extension. Bob mentioned this is a proposed global change for all of IBIS. Michael asked if this is the only change that would be required for BIRD189.3. Bob noted that [File Name] in BIRD189.2 is used similar to .ibs. Michael noted the phrase "file name" is used in a few places in the BIRD189.2. He asked if we should make the change in the BIRD 189 and make it contingent on BIRD186. Bob thought that the BIRDs have some interdependence. Michael asked, assuming BIRD186 and BIRD189 would be approved together, what changes should be made to BIRD189.3. Arpad Muranyi asked why "filename" as one word is being replaced with two word phrase of "base name". Michael noted that "filename" as one word is being replaced with "base name", while "file name" as two words would be retained meaning with the file extension. Michael discovered a typo in the example on page 21 where the file name should be "typ.s2p". Bob noted that none of the examples in BIRD189.3 contain the path. Michael replied that this will come up during the parser development. Bob stated that BIRD186 is a global rule that all file names can include the path. He notes that it is only illustrated in BIRD186. Arpad asked if the directory names are relative and if they need to be preceded with the "." and/or "/". Bob thought that this is prohibited. Arpad asked if you can refer to the root directory. Michael noted that root directories are not permitted. Arpad asked about a "./" which refers to the current directory. Michael noted the only changes for BIRD189.3 are to change "filename" to "base name" per BIRD186 and to fix the typo in the example on page 21. Arpad made a motion to submit the BIRD189.3 to the IBIS Open Forum. Bob seconded. There were no objections. BIRD186.3: Michael asked Bob about the status of the changes he is making to BIRD186.3. Bob noted that the change from "filename" to "base name". Bob stated that adding the path is adding a lot of new definitions. And the work for the parser will increase. Bob noted that IBIS has an issue where file extensions are not required. Arpad agreed and noted the issue with touchstone files having varying extensions depending on the number of ports. Michael stated that we cannot resolve the touchstone extension, but we can resolve the IBIS paths. Arpad asked if a slash is always required before the basename. He suggested to add the word "optional" when referring to the slash in the basename definition. He is also concerned that we need to cover the case when there is only a basename which is now legal. Bob noted that we have several cases that would need to be addressed in the paragraph. Michael made some changes to the base name definition to reflect Arpad's suggestions. Arpad expressed concern about the difference "full path name" and "absolute path name". Michael agreed that he has tried to address it in this draft. Bob suggested to work on the changes to BIRD186.3 through email and try to resubmit by Friday. Arpad moved to adjourn. Bob seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection.
